BRIAN LAKE

VP Development

Brian Lake is a construction management executive with nearly two decades of experience leading complex, multi-million and multi-billion dollar development projects across the country. As Vice President of Construction at UDR, Inc., Brian has directed the full life cycle of ground-up residential developments — from pre-construction and design coordination through entitlements, value engineering, and construction execution — overseeing a portfolio that has exceeded $800 million in completed projects and currently includes work valued at more than $1.3 billion. His experience spans a wide range of product types, from high-rise Type I towers to podium and prefabricated construction, in markets stretching from Los Angeles and Dallas to Alexandria, Virginia and the San Francisco Bay Area.

Before joining UDR, Brian built a strong technical foundation as a project manager, superintendent, and lead engineer, including formative work on the $8.5 billion CityCenter development on the Las Vegas Strip — one of the largest environmentally sustainable developments in the world — as well as the Margaritaville Resort Hotel & Casino and the George Washington Bridge Bus Station redevelopment. These early roles shaped his hands-on approach to problem-solving, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management, skills he now applies at an executive level while mentoring construction teams and managing relationships with general contractors, trade partners, and ownership groups. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Cal Poly Pomona and an MBA from Indiana University's Kelley School of Business, giving him a unique ability to bridge construction expertise with strategic, front-end business thinking.

Currently relocating from Denver to Miami, Brian is bringing his development expertise to South Florida's fast-growing real estate market, with active involvement in large-scale, mixed-use, transit-oriented projects. Outside of work, Brian is happiest spending time with his wife and daughters, exploring new places, discovering local wildlife, and enjoying time at the beach. That same curiosity and hands-on spirit that draws him to new destinations with his family is what continues to drive his passion for building communities where people live, work, and thrive.
